New Member Sunday

We’re excited to announce that John and Xuan will be joining our congregation in a special part of the service on Sunday, December 10. You are invited to attend in person and welcome them into our fellowship!

Giving Tree

We have a list of children that would like Christmas gifts this year. If you are interesting in purchasing a gift, select a cardboard ornament with the child’s name and then replace it with a Christmas ornament from a basket next to the tree. December 11th will be the absolute deadline to return your UNWRAPPED Christmas gift to the church so they can give the gifts to the parents to wrap and ensure the right gift goes to the correct boy or girl. Someone from Mustard Seed will be picking up these gifts on December 12th. Any help with this project is deeply appreciated. Please contact Pat at 916-773-3146. Thank you!

Brown Bag Bible Study

+ Bible study will meet on Tuesday, December 5 at 12:00 Noon. The Bible study meets in person and on Zoom. We will begin studying the Epistle of James. Please read chapter 2. If you are interested in attending the study, please contact the pastor. Thanks!

Choir Rehearsal

The Capital Chorale continues rehearsals on Thursday, December 7. The concert, A Festival of Lessons and Carols with orchestra, will be Thursday December 21 at 7:00 pm.

Women's Breakfast

The Women’s Breakfast will meet on on Saturday, December 9. Join us for lively and friendly conversations. This fellowship group meets at The Aviator’s Restaurant, 6151 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, CA.

Tickets for the Lessons and Carols performance are available by calling the church office or at the door the evening of the performance.

We Love Our Neighbors!

Our banner, positioned outside the front doors of the church, proclaims both our priority to loving our neighbor and our commitment to social justice and human rights causes. We also have a number of bookmarkers that look like this banner. You can stop off in the church office to pick one or two up. Be sure to let your friends know that we care about them–regardless of their race, color, religion, orientation, gender identity, and station in life. We truly believe that no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome at the Pioneer Congregational Church.

Prayer Ministry

We have a vibrant prayer ministry in our church. Heidi Munoz collects prayer requests, emails them out to our prayer champions, and we pray over all prayer requests each and every Sunday. If you have a prayer request, please send an email to Heidi at happyheidi@prodigy.net.

Food Pantry Donations

We are collecting non-perishable food pantry donations and travel sized toiletries on Sunday, December 17. We will collect and dedicate them during the service, and then take the donated food to the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership’s Food Closet and the toiletries to Wind Youth Services during the week.

Volunteers Needed

We are looking for volunteers to assist us on Sunday mornings. If there is a particular Sunday you wish to volunteer, please use the signup sheets available after worship in Fellowship Hall or call our Office Manager, Kelton Jackson at the church office at 916-443-3727. Volunteers are needed as Readers, Ushers, and provide food and refreshments during Coffee Hour. You may also sponsor flowers for worship in honor or memory of a loved one. We are also looking for a couple of volunteers to assist the pastor with our Outreach ministries. Interested persons should contact Pastor Bo. Thanks!

Thank You!!

A special thank you goes to Philip and our many volunteers who decorated the sanctuary for the Christmas holidays. A big shout out to Tim and Don for their purchase of a new wreath to be placed in a wonderful way.

Book Club

Our next meeting of the Book Club will be on Tuesday, January 16 at 11:00 AM in Nancy’s home. The book to be discussed is, The Covenant of Water, by Abraham Verghese.

Parking

Parking is available each Sunday in a variety of places and during the weekday in specific places. First, there are parking spaces out front and around the church. No meter fees are collected on Sunday. Second, there is free parking underground next door/behind the church in the underground parking at the Teichert underground parking garage. Enter on Capitol Street between the garage and the hospital (refer to image at left). The parking gate is open at 9:00 AM on Sundays. You may park in any space even if it says reserved.

During the weekday, we have the entire basement level for our parking needs but you will need to get a parking card to access the closed gate, unless we have prearranged an event for the gates to be open.

The church’s reserved parking is located on the B2 basement floor.

Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings

AA currently meets throughout the week in our church. They meet every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM in Fellowship Hall or the Parlor.
