To donate to the care and provisions for the recent refugees in Sacramento, you are invited to go to the website of Sacramento Area Congregations Together. All of your donations will be shared with the churches and non-profits caring for the recent influx of migrants sent from Texas. http://www.sacact.org.
All those who identify as men associated in any way with the church are invited for dinner and conversation on the first Wednesday night of the month. We will meet on Wednesday, June 7 at 6:00 PM. We will meet at Sellands, 915 Broadway, Sacramento.
Life Groups are an integral part of the life of our church. They provide connection, friendship-making, and opportunities to grow together in one’s life of faith. We offer a variety of ways to help you connect with new friends and provide an opportunity to belong to something meaningful and life-giving. If you have been looking for a way to connect with others, you are invited to find a group and get acquainted. For more information, visit our Life Groups page at: https://pioneerucc.org/lifegroups/
We have a vibrant prayer ministry in our church. Heidi Munoz collects prayer requests, emails them out to our prayer champions, and we pray over all prayer requests each and every Sunday. If you have a prayer request, please send an email to Heidi at happyheidi@prodigy.net.
We are invited to participate in a respite program with two churches already engaged in a community ministry program for the unhoused and those in need.
In both of these churches, they provide a 3-hour time of rest, respite, and services aimed at the unhoused or quality-of-life insecure. All volunteers will be trained and share responsibilities with several others. The program is run by Midtown HART and operates out of several churches across the Sacramento area.
If you are interested in participating weekly, monthly, or quarterly, please contact Pastor Bo.
A special thank you goes to Matthew and Estavan for their donations for the sack lunch program. Thanks for Nancy Alex and Cynthia Holt for Fellowship Hour and Choir Appreciation.
Our Monday Evening Bible study led by Jake Hodge is taking a break until the summer. We will return on Monday nights at 7:00 PM. Stay tuned for when that’ll start up again. Each session looks back to the last Sunday’s Scripture lesson and examines major themes and ideas of the text. Jake is pursuing his PhD in English Literature at UC Davis. His dissertation is on the American Theology of Song. Coffee and other hot beverages are provided. We meet in the Church Parlor.
Our afternoon Bible study led by the Pastor is taking a break until the summer. We will return on Tuesday afternoons at 12:00 Noon. This Bible study offers an examination of the upcoming Scripture lessons from a pastoral angle. Coffee and other hot beverages are provided. We meet in the Church Parlor.
We are collecting non-perishable food pantry donations and travel sized toiletries on Sunday, June 18. We will collect the items during the service, dedicate the donations, and take the donated food to the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership’s Food Closet and the toiletries to Wind Youth Services during the week.
We have a Meal Train ministry for our members who need an extra meal during illness or unexpected trauma. If you know a church member or friend of the church who needs a meal or two, or you would like to help cook the meals, please contact Phil Jackman.
On the the last Sunday of the month is our Compassion Offering. This offering provides relief for the family and friends of the congregation. We will be collecting this offering on Sunday, June 25 during the service. We use this fund in a variety of ways to include helping the members and friends of the congregation who need an extra bit of help in our congregation and purchasing meal sacks for the homeless. If you are using one check or envelope for both compassion and pledge, please make clear to tellers how much to each. Thank you.
Join us on Sunday, June 25 at 11:30 AM for our sermon talk back discussion. The pastor will discuss his sermon and you are invited to ask questions and talk about it or any other part of the Sunday worship experience. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall during Coffee Hour. Everyone is invited to participate.
Periodically we collect donations to benefit Wind Youth Services, which provides special needs services to the unhoused youth in our area. We will receive your donated items on Sunday, June 18. They are asking for small or travel-size care items, men’s and women’s socks, disposable rain ponchos, and frozen food that homeless youth will eat. We will collect the items during the service and take them to the youth center during the week.
We are looking for volunteers to assist us on Sunday mornings. If there is a particular Sunday you wish to volunteer, please use the signup sheets available after worship in Fellowship Hall or call our Office Manager, Kelton Jackson at the church office at 916-443-3727. Volunteers are needed as Readers, Ushers, and Acolytes, and provide food and refreshments during Coffee Hour. You may also sponsor flowers for worship in honor or memory of a loved one.
Those who identify as women who are in any way connected with our church are invited for breakfast this coming Saturday, July 1 at 9:00 AM. This fellowship group meets on the first Saturday of every month at The Aviator’s Restaurant, 6151 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, CA.
Parking is available each Sunday in a variety of places and during the weekday in specific places. First, there are parking spaces out front and around the church. No meter fees are collected on Sunday. Second, there is free parking underground next door/behind the church in the underground parking at the Teichert underground parking garage. Enter on Capitol Street between the garage and the hospital (refer to image at left). The parking gate is open at 9:00 AM on Sundays. You may park in any space even if it says reserved.
During the weekday, we have the entire basement level for our parking needs but you will need to get a parking card to access the closed gate, unless we have prearranged an event for the gates to be open.
The church’s reserved parking is located on the B2 basement floor.
AA currently meets throughout the week in our church. They meet every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM in Fellowship Hall or the Parlor.
