Lessons and Carols Christmas Concert Dessert Buffet

Calling all bakers, makers and savvy shoppers!  We need your help to host the dessert buffet following the Christmas Concert on Friday 12/20/24.

We are inviting people to attend a dessert buffet after the concert, and we need cookies, brownies, mini cupcakes, mini tarts, and other goodies that are individually portioned or can be easily sliced into individual portions.  Lovely dessert items can be made or purchased and dropped off at the church starting at 5 pm on Friday before the concert at 7 pm.

We will be serving a variety of hot beverages (Christmas tea, mulled cider and coffee) to go with our variety of desserts.  This concert is always well attended and we expect around 200 people to stay for the festivities.

For more information, or to volunteer for set up and service, email Ellen Arden-Ogle at ellen.ardenogle@gmail.com

Thanks for helping to make this a wonderful Christmas event!

Giving Tree Gifts

Pat and Xochitl, a representative from Loaves and Fishes, show the many gifts received for the Mustard Seed program that gave Christmas gifts to homeless children here in Sacramento.

All the gifts received this year for Loaves and Fishes' children.

A bare tree without the gifts but grateful for the opporturnity to protect what was given this year.

Join us for a lively discussion of the Hard Sayings of Jesus, based on the book of the same name by F.F. Bruce.

Bible study meets every Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the Pastor's Office. However, there will be no Bible study meeting on December 25 or January 1 due to the holidays.

Tour of the Sanctuary

Dr. Elliot Jones, our music director, leads a tour of the sanctuary that includes the building architecture, explaining the history of the various stained glass windows, and offers a history of our organ and plays on it to show it's capabilities. The next Tour happens on Saturday, January 11 at 12:00 Noon. Invite your friends to this lovely tour as it is a great way to introduce them to our historic building and church.

Food Pantry Donations

We collect non-perishable food pantry donations and travel-sized toiletries on Sunday, January 19. We will collect and dedicate them during the service and then take the donated food to the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership’s Food Closet and the toiletries to Wind Youth Services during the week.

CoWorking Office Space @ Pioneer

We are looking for persons who would like to work out of one of our offices or use our many common rooms as a place to work. Mainly geared for those who work from home, our coworking space sharing is a great way at an affordable price to work in a peaceful atmosphere. Spread the news, tell your friends, and let us use these office spaces that have sat empty throughout the week. For more information, please call the church office.

Prayer Ministry

We have a vibrant prayer ministry in our church. Heidi Munoz collects prayer requests, emails them out to our prayer champions, and we pray over all prayer requests each and every Sunday. If you have a prayer request, please send an email to Heidi at prayingpioneers@gmail.com.

We help prepare you for leadership by serving on various committees and boards of the church. We have open positions in ministry, planning, outreach, and Christian education. If you are interested in honing your leadership skills, or developing them, please speak with the Pastor.

Leadership Development

Choir Rehearsal

The Pioneer Choir presents music of a great variety of styles – Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, traditional spirituals, brand-new choral anthems, and more. Rehearsals are at 6:30 on Thursdays in our choir room. New singers are welcome anytime. Music-reading skills are helpful, but not required. Choir rehearsal begins on Thursday, September 5.

Bell Choir Rehearsal

Pioneer Bells rehearses on Tuesdays at 6:30 in our choir room, and presents some of the rich repertoire of music for bell choir in worship services – and occasionally in front of the church, serenading Sutter’s Fort Park!

Thank You!

A special thank you goes to Pat H. for organizing the Giving Tree. We thank Randy for the food and Vi for setting up for Fellowship Hour. We also thank Randy for assembling this week's unhoused meal sack lunches. Thank you!
