We offer a variety of musical opportunities for you to enjoy.
The Pioneer Choir presents music in a wide variety of styles: Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony, traditional spirituals, brand-new choral anthems, and more. Rehearsals are at 6:30 PM on Thursdays in our choir room. New singers are welcome anytime. Music-reading skills are helpful but not required.
The Capital Chorale is a community of singers, both professional and skilled volunteers, committed to preparing and performing quality music for choir and orchestra. The season consists of a Festival of Lessons and Carols in December and a concert in April. There are eight Thursday evening rehearsals preceding each concert. Interested singers should contact the music director to arrange an audition.
Pioneer Bells rehearses on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM in our choir room, and presents some of the rich repertoire of music for bell choir in worship services – and occasionally in front of the church, serenading Sutter’s Fort Park!
All our concert and event tickets may be purchased online or at the door. To ensure you will have a seat, we recommend purchasing your ticket in advance. We use Eventbrite for all our online ticketing.
Rebuilt in 1993, our organ incorporates pipes from the instrument that was installed here shortly after the building was consecrated in 1926, and pipes from a 1864 Hook and Hastings organ from the previous church building. It also employs state-of-the-art digital technology, including an antiphonal Festival Trumpet that will knock your socks off, and a 32′ Contra Bombarde that you “feel” more than you hear!
Our music director, Dr. Elliot Jones, offers private music lessons for all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. For more information, visit http://www.elliotjones.net.
