Imaging God is not the same as imagining God. Imagining is only in the head. Imaging is the external presentation in some form of what is in the head. By word or action we image what we imagine. Artists and poets are adept at this.
We all are the image of the god we imagine.
We may say we believe in a God of love, but if we do not act in loving ways then that God is not truly our god. Those who hate have a god of hate. I do not know of any religion that officially espouses a god of hate, but I know of religious people who image such a god. I also know many wonderful people who image love every day without consciously doing so. I think they are divine.
